The Trouble with Being Right
This week on Unscripted, we're looking at one of the more troubling stories in the Bible: David and Bathsheba. David is supposed to be a hero. He's the king God chose, a man after God's own heart. But in this story, he abuses his power, tries to cover up what he's done, and ultimately has an innocent man killed.
It's a story about power, injustice, and our remarkable ability to recognize what's wrong with everybody else while overlooking what's wrong with ourselves. And somehow, our conversation takes us all the way to the oppression Olympics, where we wrestle with how we talk about injustice, who gets to claim victimhood, and whether comparing suffering actually helps anybody.
