M&M Ch 12: The Right Answer, Wrong Idea
Have you ever been absolutely convinced you knew how something was going to turn out? Only to discover you didn't have it quite as figured out as you thought? That's where the disciples were.
They believed Jesus was the Messiah, and they had some pretty big ideas about what that meant. Manna & Mercy describes them imagining themselves as important people in Jesus' new kingdom… leaders, rulers, the people sitting next to the guy in charge.

Then Jesus rides into Jerusalem and, for a minute, it looks like they were right. People are cheering, waving branches, and shouting "Hosanna!" For a moment, things were heading in the right direction for the disciples, but only for a moment.
Here's the part of Chapter 12 that jumped out to me: the disciples had the right answer, but they still completely missed the point.
That's one of the things I find interesting about Chapter 12. The disciples weren't necessarily wrong about Jesus. They were wrong about what following Jesus was supposed to look like, and I wonder how often we do the same thing. Maybe knowing the right things about Jesus isn't the same thing as understanding Jesus.
Your turn: Have you ever been right about something, but completely wrong about what you thought it would look like?
